Communique "AFROMANIF" (English version)

September 28, 2010:

52nd anniversary of “NO” to “Françafrique”

Huge International African Demonstration

Each generation must, in a relative opacity, find its mission, to either achieve it or betray it.”
(Frantz Fanon)

September 28, 1958: The day Africans said “NO” to Françafrique

52 years ago, the people of the republic of Guinea said "NO" to General de Gaulle’s project to regroup French African colonies into a politically, economically and culturally subservient community to France. To commemorate the anniversary of this historic event, Africans and Friends of Africa are organizing a peaceful demonstration in front of the National Assembly in Paris and French Embassies in Washington DC, USA; in Brussels, Belgium; in Berlin, Germany; in Berne, Suisse; in London, UK; in Abidjan, Côte d'Ivoire; in Lomé, Togo; in Ottawa, Canada; in Dakar, Senegal, just to mention a few!
September 28, 2010: Once again, Africans and Friends of Africa are saying “NO!”
NO to the disguised French neo-colonization of Africa; NO to Françafrique’s “defense agreements”; NO to French Army bases in Africa; NO to Françafrique-sponsored rigged elections; NO to political imprisonments; NO to assassinations and genocides orchestrated by Françafrique; NO to the plundering of African resources; NO to the lies and misinformation; NO to revisionism of African History and any attempt at justify colonization; NO to harmful foreign assistance; NO, NO, NO…

No for never has Françafrique been so arrogant, contemptuous and as resurgent since the election of Nicolas Sarkozy to the presidency of the French Republic. His predecessors at the Elysée were not better either in their relations with the Africans! But this sitting President's ignorance and contempt of the African continent and its peoples are far more obvious and dangerous. We no longer want anything to do with this brand of “Françafrique décomplexée” that harms our people in total impunity and complicity with the ruling Mafias.

No because Africa can no longer bear the burdens of: the assassinations of her patriots and dedicated defenders of the interests of her people such as Patrice Lumumba, Sylvanus Olympio, Thomas Sankara, Ruben Um Nyobe, to name just a few.

The economic crimes ranging from Elf to Total via Areva that squandered the continent's coffers and impoverished her people; No to the harms caused to African peoples

the destabilizing wars as in Algeria or both Congo

the setup of despotic regimes and its most recent form of dynastic succession from father to son being tested out in Togo and Gabon!

Echoing the encouraging words of President Barack Obama's in August 2010 urging African Youth to take full responsibility for the advent of freedom, democracy and progress in Africa, We, the people of Africa, have decided to never again be victimized by Françafrique.

We’re fervently calling on organizations, African militants and all defenders of this cause to rally this initiative and take it upon themselves to organize, in their home countries, a demonstration that will occur simultaneously in various cities. This event will shout the unified voice of committed Africans who want to effectively break the back of neocolonialism through concrete actions geared to assert the sovereignty to the continent.
At the dawn of the 21st century, at a time where of new waves of geopolitical jockeying and maneuvering are in “vogue”, the mission of our generation is to free Africa from neocolonialism.

By so doing we will usher in hope for our people and a blooming Africa in a peaceful world.

September 28, 2010:  On this day, let us again shout a resounding “NO” to the bond of neocolonialism;
As Guinea did 52 years ago!
